- Selection and breeding are the most two important of the various methods used in animal reformation studies. On the other hand, heritability is the best proper indicator of the genetical improvement achieved by the selection applied.

Although it is possible to estimate the heritability by using different methods, the common point shared by all these methods is the principle that phenotypical similarities observed among relatives are the reflection of the results of genotypcal similarites possessed by them. As it will be seen in this statement kinship play an important role in the estimates concerned with the heritability.

The purpose of this work is to stress on the importance of kinship degree in the estimates of heritability and to introduce a computer programme developed for this purpose of calculating the heritability of a herd.

The programme was written by TURBO PASCAL 7.0 language, it can work in DOS media and is prepared to be used by computers of 80486 and more advanced models and PC' s having graphical screen. Keywords : Heritability, Kinship, Computer Programme
