- The study was carried out at Bala State Farm to investigate the effect of seasonal conditions on milk traits of Holstein cattle in Middle Anatolia. The characteristics studied were milk yield, lactation length and dry period.

The data relating to milk traits were recorded in 1992. İn addition to farm records of milk performance in the period of 1985-1991 were also used.

According to the results, the highest milk yield and longest lactation period were obtained in summer group, the Iowest milk yield and shortest lactation period were in winter group. The differences for milk yield and lactation length among season and year groups were found highly significant (P<0.01). The shortest dry period was found in the spring calving group and no significant influence of calving season on this trait was detected. Keywords :
