1 A. Ü. Veteriner Fakültesi Zootekni Anabilim Dalı, Dışkapı- ANKARA - The effects of starling time on fattening performance in Holstein bulls in the Middle Anatolian Condnions were studied. Fourteen yearting bulls were allocated into two groups consisting seven animals in each. The first group was put on trial in early december while the second group in early april. The fattening period was 180 days for the both groups. The groups were kept in a semi-confinement type of barn and managed under loose housing condnion. The average values of starling weight, final weight and daily weight gains of animals were 231, 435 kg and 1131 g for the first group and 233, 393 kg and 919 g for the second group. The difference between the two groups for average daily live weight gain was highly significant (P<0.01).

The average intakes of feed (concentrates+roughages) and dry matter per kg live weight gain were 10.5, 9.3 and 11.5, 10.3 kg for the two groups in the above order.

The daily temperetures increased over 20°C in may and over 30°C in july.

İt was conduded that differences between the groups in respects of live weight gain, feed consumption and dry matter consumption were believed to be originated from the temperature differences in winter and summer season. Keywords :
