- Twenty cows (14 Holstein, 6 Brown Swiss) were found to be naturally infected with BLV by ELISA, gp 51 test. Another group being consisted of 13 Holstein and 12 Brown Swiss, seronegative cows were used as controls. Produdion parameters used were: Age, 1st calving number of current lactation and life time total 305-day mature - equivalent milk production, actual life time total milk production, and actual life time total milk production per lactation, per month of productive life, and per day milk, CMT scores, as well as lactation number, months of productive life, and total milking days. Lengths of most recent calving intervals and nonladating (dry) periods were also examined.

There was a sudden increase in the prevalence of infection between the groups of cows having 2 nd and 3 rd completed lactations (from 30.7 % to 71.4 %). No slatistically significant differences were seen between the means of 11 variables examined belonging to seropositive and controls. Seropositive group had significantly higher (P<0.05) variables of life time total 305. day matureequivalent milk production, months of productive life and total milking days than control group.
