In these studies, due to their various advantages, laboratory animals are used. There are conventional and IVC (individually ventilated cages) cages for the laboratory animals which are produced for that purpose. While the animals are fed by standardized diets in conventional cages, they are fed by sterilized feeds in hepa filtered and full protected systems such as IVC.
