MARMARA BÖLGESİ MERİNOSLARINDA ALTI AYLIK KUZU KIRKIMININ ÖNEMİ ÜZERİNDE BİR ARAŞTIRMA

- This experiment has been carried out to determine if there is a beneficial effect of the shearing of the lambs in the 6 months old. Because of lambs usually have been clipped at 18 months old in this area. 200 lambs, borned in december 1968, were used in this experiment at Bandırma Merino Farm. Lambs were divided in to 2 groups. Randomly 100 heads in each group. We have determined body weight, staple length, greasy fleece weight and clean fiber content at the age of 6 and 18 months in the first group. And body weight at the age of 6 and 18 months; staple length, greasy fleece weight and clean fiber content only at the end of the experiment.

The values of the first group (18 months. Shearing) and the second group (6-8 months shearing) were 32.4, 28.8, 31.2 kg for body weight; 3.26, 1.00, 2.75 kg for greasy fleece weight; 8.31, 3.50, 6.72 cm for staple mength; 47.95, 51.93, 49.58 % for clean fiber content respectively.

It can be concluded that shearing of the lambs of 6 month of age is more beneficial as a result of this experiment. Keywords :
