The most important morphological characters and yields of the Karakül sheep and the breeding system at Çifteler Stud Farm

- In Turkey, the Karakul sheep has been bred since 1929. Because of effects of many factors, breeding was not able to have grown. But the Karakul sheep in wel sutidied for especially the Central and the eastern Anatolia.

The Karakul sheep population in Turkey is few at present. We try to have more population and to spread them some areas which have adequate conditions. The Karakul sheep has been raised in especially Çifteler Stud Farm and Lalahan Animal Breeding Statiton.

In this study, the Karakul sheap raised in Çifteler Stud Farm were investigated and fifteen important body measurements, live and birth weights, fertility rate, percentage of the first class skin in different years, simple progeny testing of rams, quality and colour of wool, fleece weight, lenght of staple and wool feneness has been recorded.
