Studies on the fineness and colour characteristics of the Turkish hairy goat wool and their compariasion with those of cahmere, lama, vicuna and guanaco wools

- This work has been to determine the amount of cashmere like wool of hairy goats, its fineness and colour characteristics. Which are important in textile Industry.

293 samples obtained from different provinces of the country, have been examined at Lalahan Animal Breeding Research Institute, Ankara. It was considered in view of the rainfall and temperature in different provinces, that Turkish hairy goat wool could conveniently be studied under four groups. 200 fibres from each sample (a total of 58.600) were measured for fibre diameter using wedge methode.

Apart from, this samples were obtained from the Cashmere Goats of Indiana Pakistan and Iran and from the Lamas, Vicunas and Guanacos of South America for comparisons. Keywords :
