Studies on the heritability of the annual mohair yield

Naci SİNCER

- The object of this study was to estimate heritability of annual mohair production in a flock of Angora goats kept at the Lalahan Animal Breeding Research Institute, near Ankara.

Offspring dam regresion, offspring dam correlation and paternal half sib correlation methods have been employed. For the first two methods 125 pairs of records were available while, for the third 233 records representing 10 sires have been used. Third year fleece weights have been used in all analyses.

The estimates obtained from offspring dam regresion, offspringdam correlation and paternal haf sib correlation were 0.266, 0.264 and 0.150 respectively. Keywords :
