- The aim of this study was to evaluate milk yield and quality with udder traits in Chios x Akkaraman B1 ewes kept under extensive conditions in a private farm, where in Çubuk-Ankara. The study was conducted in years of 2011 and 2012. The mean vales in the first and second years were 491.02±32.44 and 401.72±36.60 g for daily milk yield; 82.28±6.00 and 68.79±6.77kg for lactation milk yield; 164.83±4.09 ve 168.71±4.31 days or lactation length, respectively. The effect of year and birth type (P<0.05, P<0.01) on mean daily and lactation milk yield, birth type and lactation number (P<0.05) on lactation length were significant. Phenotypic correlation coefficients were calculated as high and positive among daily milk yield with udder depth, width and distance between teats but high and negative with teat-ground distance. The means values were detected as 464.73± 251.78 cell/ml for somatic cell count, 74.16, -3.18, 6.36 and 6.69 for L*, a*, b* and pH in the milk samples taken from the secound mouth of lactation in the scond year, respectively. In conclucion, there is a high variation between years in terms of milk yield and Chios X Akkaraman B1 ewes kept under extensive conditions in a private farm showed a satisfactory milk production.
