A review on hereditary and environmental factors causing hip dysplasia in dogs

- Progressive Canine Hip Dysplasia is encountered in the most of 350 dog breeds recognized by Orthopedical Foundation for Animals (OFA). Disease could appear at early ages and gradually turns into a degenerative joint illness. This situation is known as arthrolitis deriving from a debilitating orthopedical disease named osteoarthritis. Diagnosis and treatments are expensive and bring heavy burdens to owners. There are various studies for incidence and minimizing of this ailment by some breeding programs.
