- In-vitro gas production method is one of the generally used method in ruminant feed evaluation systems. In this paper, commonly used models such as Exponential, Lojistic, France, Gompertz and Groot to estimate kinetic parameters which describe diestibility of feeds were discussed regarding to published papers in the field. Application of in-vitro gas production methods in determination of nutritive values of feeds have been changed with rumen liquid volume, quantity of feed, ratio of feed to rumen liquid and volume and incubation volume. These variations directly affect the gas production volume. Thus, description and interpretation of gas production profiles could be possible with the right choice of matematical model. Compatibility of available models to automatisation, biologically meaningfulness, advantage and disadvantage of models are required critical consideration to propose the most appropriate one. In conclussion, new matematical models should be developed for the estimation of kinetic parameters with the current automated moduller in-vitro gas production systems.
