- This research was performed to investigate some chemical properties of egg content, relationship between chick hatching weight and eggshell pigments in pheasant eggs with different weight and eggshell color. In this study, a total of 600 eggs laid by 48 week old pheasants and chicks from these eggs were used. The eggs were randomly divided into two weights (≤32 g and 32 0.05). The highest hatching weights of chick were obtained from dark brown eggs, which were followed by green and light brown eggs respectively (P <0.01). It was found that the fat ratio was higher in the group with light egg weight (P <0.05). Negative correlations were found between egg weight and egg chemical characteristics which are eggshell pigments, protein, fat. Consequently, in pheasant breeding, to obtain high hatching weight of chicks, it may be recommend to dark brown eggs. Keywords : Pheasant, egg, hatching characters, egg traits
