Mehmet ÖRKİZ ,Naci SİNCER

- Effects of climate, nutrition, genetics, intesnal parasites, histopathological lesions on skin and blood concentration of sodium, potassium and total lipids on mohair loss in Angora Goats at Lalahan Zootechnical Research Institute have been investigated.

Mohair loss was determined in % 7.3 of total animals in the flock studied. Major sites of the loss were back, neck and ventral parts of neck and abdomen. It is found that in bucks, in which as the same figure was % 37.1 for kittens and % 40.9 for mother goats.

The presence of relative humidity higher than % 65 and temperature higher than 10 oC in halo were found to significantly increase mohair loss. Primary predisposing agent for mohair loss was determined to be the higher levels of sodium found in blood. No relationship could be established between mohair loss and other parameters studied. However, it is concerned with minerals should be conducted. Keywords :
