The utilization of mycelium of aspergillus niger from Citric Acid production in beef cattle rations

- This experiment was conducted using 1,5 – 2 year old East Anatolian Red steers at the Lalahan Zootechnical Research Institute. The steers were divided in to 3 groups with ten animals in each. Each group received a different concentrate ration. One of them was without mycelium (control group) one containing 15 % mycelium and the other with 25 % mycelium. The daily ration was composed of 75 % concentrate and 25 % wheat straw. The animals were fed ad.libitum. The steers were weighed at 14 days intervals. The experimental period lasted 84 days, then the animals were slaughtered at the slaughter hause of the meat and fish company for carcass evaluation.

For the three groups respectively, the ffed consumption per animal was 6.56; 6.81 and 6.90 kg/day. The body weight gain during fattening 63.3, 56.4 and 67.4 kg., the daily weight gain 754, 671 and 802 grams, consumption of feed as dry matter basis per kilogram of gain 8.70; 10.16 and 8.60 kg. The hot and chilled dressing percentages for the treatments were as follows 62.30 - 60.92; 61.82 – 60.17; 62.61 and 61.01 respectively. Keywords :
