Ö. Yavuz KİNALP

- The bull semen frozen in ampules were imported from the United States and used for the artificial insemination of the breeding at various Zootechnical Research Institutes. A quite low and variable result was optained from the application of this semen and in 568 cows average conception rate was 45.9 %.

At the beginning of 1973 A.I. cente at LZRI has started to freeze the bull semen first in a laiciphos egg yolk then in a laiciphos egg yolk glycerol (% 5) solution, suckled in to 0.45 ml straws and frozen horizantaly in N< vapour 5 hours after collection which was not priviously employed in Turkey.

In 1973, 5044 cows were inseminated at different subcentres with frozen straws and an average 72.69 % pregnancy was optained. At the same year a 87.5 % pergnancy was optained from 40 cows were inseminated at L.Z.R.I.

In 1974, 278 cows were inseminated at Kızılinler and 572 cows were inseminated at Doğançayırı subcentres with straws and the 60-90 day non return rates were 77 % and 70.3 %. Keywords :
