On reaching laying age, 500 of these were placed in laying quarters together with 500 combed controls from the same hatch. After eight months of laying the performances of the groups were compared.

Average egg production in the experimental group during the eight months laying period was 137.19 egggs (57.40 %) as compared with 125.81 eggs (53.73 %) for the controls. On the average the experimental birds produced 3.7 % more eggs than did the controls.

According to local price rates the total value of eggs produced during the eight months was 48.02 TL. per experimental bird and 44.03 TL. per control bird the difference being 3.99 TL. in favour of the former. Keywords :
