The effects of TM-11 and Rovimix on the egg production and hatchability of New Hampshire hens kept at Konya State Farm

Zakir ENÇEVİK

- The effects of TM 11 (Terramycin) and Rovimix (vit.A + vit. B2 + vit. D3) on the egg production and hatchability of New hampshire hens kept at Konya State Farm were investigated.

At the end of 8 months laying period average numbers of eges per bird in the groups receiving TM-11 rovimix and in the control group were 121.80, 117.07 and 107.99 respectively. Corresponding figures for hatchability were 85.1 %, 87.6 % and 84.0 %.

After allowing for food management expenses average net return per bird was 12.23 TL for the TM-11 treated group and 11.3 TL for rovimix treated group compared with 8.92 TL for the control group.

These findings indicate that TM-11 and rovimix supplementation on poultry rations may bring about considerable increasing in egg production even under fairly favourable conditions as it is at Konya State Farm. It is expected that, under less favourable hygienic conditions which exsist in many parts of Turkey, greater progress can be made from antibiotic and vitamin supplementation in the way of incerasing the efficiency of a polutry enterprise economically.
