- In this study, live weights after shearing, mohair weight and some mohair characteristics of Angora goats were obtained. Data were collected from Angora goat flock reared at Lalahan Livestock Research Institute. The research was conducted between 2001 and 2004 years. The effects of year and animal age on those of traits were estimated. Least squares means of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6+ ages groups for body weights after shearing were 22.57±0.431, 31.90±0.478, 38.28±0.508, 40.62±0.524, 44.50±0.539, 46.12±0.577 kg, for mohair weight were 1704±86.8, 2434±61.8, 2873±63.8, 3013±68.9, 3216±80.3, 2974±89.1 g respectively (P<0.05). Least squares means for fibre diameter, length, resistance, elasticity were also estimated and results of same ages groups were 30.06±0.645, 33.48±0.436, 36.35±0.478, 35.47±0.536, 35.60±0.646, 36.86±0.671 μm for fibre diameter; 6.06±0.178, 6.23±0.126, 6.19±0.141, 6.27±0.154, 6.43±0.180, 6.70±0.196 cm for fibre length; 8.69±0.230, 9.46±0.232, 10.22±0.262, 11.21±0.268, 10.70±0.281, 10.66±0.303 g for fibre resistance; 36.30±0.642, 37.51±0.648, 40.31±0.730, 39.41±0.747, 41.45±0.780, 38.52±0.844% for elasticity respectively. The effect of age on body weight after shearing, mohair weight, fibre diameter, resistance, elasticity was statistically significant (P<0.001), but not significant on fibre length (P>0.05).
