- The aim of this study was to estimate live weight with ratio type estimation methods, and to compare of methods by using body measurements in Deutsche and Karacabey Merino.

Samples are drown from which Deutsche Merino genotype includes 68 heads in 1.5-2.5 group of age, and Karacabey Merino genotype includes 70 heads in 1.5-2.5 group of age; with same order includes 52 and 56 heads in 3.5-5.5 group of age with simple run into illustrate method for estimation of live weight. Values which are achieved after shearing composed data of investigation.

The genotype of Merinos with help of some body measurements for most applicable estimation method of live weight in sheep assign which will use estimation means and variances are calculated and compared with achieved estimation methods which simple, simple ratio type, Olkin, Raj, Agarwal, Tankou and Dharmadhikari, Dharmadhikari and Tankou.

Both of two subgroup of genotype by using body measurements, Dharmadhikari and Tankou estimation method gives the best score for estimation of live weight. Mean values which achieved, showed values which are fairly approximated to population and estimation variance are found more efficient then other variances which are achieved in other estimation methods with this method.
