- This study was carried out to investigate the fattening and carcass characteristics of Bafra (Chios x Karyaka B1) ram lambs. The study was conducted in 1999 and 2000 years. Bafra ram lambs were fattened from 19.90 to 40.42 kg live weight. The average of daily live weight gain was found as 227 g. Concentrate and alfalfa hay consumption for 1 kg of live weight gain were found as 4.63 and 1.80 kg, respectively. Lambs were slaughtered at 40.42 kg live weight for evaluating carcass characteristics. Cold carcass weight and dressing percentage were 19.05 kg and 47.15%, respectively. The ratios of legs, shoulder and loin were 29.65, 17.95 and 8.46%, while the ratios of lean, fat and bone in carcass were 55.95, 17.42 and 24.84 %, respectively. The results of the study showed that fattening and carcass caharacteristics of Bafra lambs were similar with local breeds.
