A Study on The Characteristics of Milk Yield in Akkaraman and German Blackheaded Mutton X Akkaraman Fı Crossbreds

- This research was carried out to study milk yield characteristics of Akkaraman and German Blackheaded Mutton (GBM) x Akkaraman (Akk) Fı Crossbred ewes.

The study has been conducted on 25 Akkaraman and 23 GBH x Akk Fı Crossbred ewes in Lalahan Livestock Research Institute. Ewes were 2 years old at the beginning of experiment.

Daily milk yield and lactation milk yield were 410.0, 489.4, 462.6, 296.4, 128.8 g and 10.34, 24.15, 38.61, 50.02, 55.90 kg for Akkaraman; 515.2, 561.5, 440.2, 256.5, 81.2 g and 13.41, 29.74, 45.01, 55.48, 60.30 kg for GBM x Akk Fı crossbreds on the 30 th, 60 th, 90 th, 120 th, 150 th days of lactation, respectively. Lactation length and milk fat rate Akkaraman and GBM x Akk Fı crossbreds were 158 days and 6.31 %; 148 days and 6.53 %, respectively.Daily milk yield was reached the peak point on 75 th day of lactation for Akkaraman, despite of 50 th day of lactation for GBH x Akk Fı crossbreds.
