- The investigation was carried out at Çukurova state farm in eastern Mediterranean region. The material of the study consisted of 2349 cattle at different ages in the genotypes of Holstein (H) Southern Anatolian Red (GAK), their crossbreds (F1) and first backcrosses to Holstein (G1). The kind and frequency of health disorders and the results of treatments were studied.

The health problems were grouped into respiratory, digestion and genital system disorders; metabolic and neonatal diseases; eye and foot troubles and blodd parasitism. The frequencies of disorders in each genotype groups of H, GAK, F1 were 42.0, 16.2, 13.3 and 16.1 %, respectively. The most of the cases were bloats and the relative frequencies were 10.6, 2.6, 4.0 and 4.4 % in the above order. The percentages of theileriosis and anaplasmosis were 4.0, 0.4, 0.7 and 0.7 in the genotype groups.

The differences among the years and among the seasons for the occurrences of disorders were found to be significant in H and GAK groups. These differences were not significant for the F1 and G1 genotype groups.

The ratios of the animals slaughtered or died in the genotype groups were 13.1, 7.0, 1.3 and 4.6 % in the above order. The differences among the groups were higly significant.

Depending on the findings it was concluded that the crossbreds were more resistant to the disorders than the pure breeds. Keywords :
