- Determination of the individual inbreeding coefficient of pure-bred Arab horses born in Karacabey, Çifteler, Çukurova and Sultansuyu stock farms between the years 1963-1974. Classification of the individual inbreeding coefficients. Estabilishment of subgroups through sexes, years, stock farms and comparison of groups and subgroups to find out if there is any significant difference. Comparison of the three results mentioned above with the results of pure-bred Arab horses of 1954 to find out if there is any increase in inbreeding coefficients.

The data of this study belong to the pure-bred Arab horses born in Karacabey, Çifteler, Çukurova and Sultansuyu stock farms between the years of 1963-1974. The inbreeding coefficients have been calculated from the formula given by Sewal Wright. The mean, variance, standart deviation, standart error have been obtained by the common methods. The difference of means are tested by the anlysis of variances, chi-square tests and real-significant-difference. The results are as follows.

The highest value for inbreeding coefficient is found to be the same (Fx=14 %). When the individual values are distributed to several classes, it is observed that 68.9 % of individuals from the population in 1954 belong to the class of 0.0 %=Fx. For the population of 1963-1974, this value is 50 %. On the contrary there is an increase in the medium classes.

In the population of 1954, the means of stock farms, cities are respectively 1.083 %, 0.605 %. The general mean is 0.948 %. In this study, the mean of the inbreeding coefficients and the mean of the subgroups means are respectively found to be 1.3209 % and 1.2761 %. According to the t-tst the difference of the means has found to be significant.

Consequently, the is an increase of at least about 0.1931 % in the inbreeding coefficient of the population 1963-1974 relative to the population of 1954. Keywords :
