The Egg Quality Charecteristics of Barred Rock-1, Rhode Island Red-2 and Colombian

1 Tavukçuluk Araştırma Enstitüsü, Ankara - The aim of this study was to investigate egg quality traits of Barred Rock 1, Rhode Island Red 2 and Colombian lines. The study was conducted with a total of 630 eggs obtained from those of lines aged 37 weeks at the Institute of Poultry Research in Ankara. There were significant differences among the lines in terms of the egg quality traits (P<0.01). Specific gravity (gr/cm3), egg weight (g), lightness (L), redness (a), yellowness (b), egg shell breaking strength (n/cm2), egg shell thickness (mm), shape index, Haugh unit, albumin index and yolk index were found as 1.083, 58.16, 67.77, 7.22, 22.73, 38.93, 0.32, 77,16, 81.23, 8.43 and 46.70 in Barred Rock 1 line; 1.079, 61.89, 64.95, 8.08, 22.37, 36.77, 0.31, 78.8, 82.21, 8.45 and 46.09 in Rhode Island Red 2 line and 1.080, 57.39, 67.81, 4.30, 19.31, 34.187, 0.310, 78.967, 87.138, 9.96 and 47.96 in Colombian line, respectively. As a result, egg quality traits differ among Borred Rock 1, Rhode Island Red 2 and Colombian lines. Keywords : Brown layers, Barred Rock 1, Rhode Island Red 2, Colombian, egg quality
