Mehmet SANDIKÇIOĞLU ,Kazım ÖZCAN

- The object of this study is to determine primary (P), Secondary (S), and total (P+S) number of wool follicles per square milimeter of skin area, corresponding fibre diameters, ñ (S/P) and đ (P/S) rations in Rambouillet x Akkaraman ewes.

Skin specimens were obtained from 8 three years old nonpregnant Rambouillet x Akkaraman ewes kept at Konya State Farm under similar feeding and management conditions.

It was found that Rambouillet x Akkaraman ewes have greater number of wool follicles, fewer medullated fibres and more uniform fibre population as compared with Akkaraman ewes. Results are tabulated and discussed in connection with other crosbred types. Keywords :
