- There are some cows at Karacabey State Farm called Brown Swiss, Montafon and Karacabey Montafon according to their origin. The object of this study is to identify milk, bufterfat production and lactation period of those cows comparing with foreign and other native breeds.

Some cows were under controll from the stand point of milk and butterfat production up to 1958 – 1959 at Karacabey State Farm. Their lactation period changed between 221 and 365 days. Those cows used as a material. These production records analysed by genetic and statistical methods.

During the fourth and after lactation periods of the Karacabey`s Brown Swiss, Montafon and Karacabey Montafon average figures are as follows; Milk Production and Butterfat Productions Brown Swiss 2596 ± 114.8 and 85.7 ± 3.7, Montafon 2342 ± 59.3 and 80.3 ± 2.2, Karacabey Montafon 2533 ± 38.3 kg and 87.2 ± 5.7 kg. There is not any important difference among theree breeds. For there breeds average figures are 2493 ± 32.3 kg milk and 85.4 ± 1.2 kg butterfat.

Both of three breeds or one of them is increasing milk production upto fourth lactation gradually. But there is not any difference between lactations after fourth calving.

Average lactation period is 288.8 ± 1.06 day for Karacabeys cows. There is not any difference among the cows for lactation periods. There is a % 82.8 ± 1.28 correlation for butterfat production. Increasing in milk production for 1 kg butter fat production increases as well as 0.31 coeffient. Keywords :
