Controlled Insemination of Brown -Swiss heifers with cloprostenol

2 Hayvancılık Merkez Araştırma Enstitüsü, Konya - 46 Brown-Swiss virgine heifers, between 2 -5 years old were used ın this study. Without controlling the phase of the sexuel cycle, 500 mcg Cloprostenol was injected i.m. in heifers and estrous symptoms were detected following 5 days. Artificial Inseminations were done during the standing estrouses.

The heifers were not seen estrous symptoms within 5 days, were injected second 500 mcg Cloprostenol 11 days later and were inseminated 72. and 96. hours after injections.

Estrous, conception and pregnancy rates obtained from first and second group of heifers were 86.95 %, 50 %, 43.47 % and 100 %, 66.66 %, 66.66 % respectively.

Looking the results of first cloprostenol injections, it's decided that better fertility scores could be obtained 48. and 72. hours inseminations after 2 nd cloprostenol injections in these animals. Keywords :
