- The study was carried out to determine the effect of genotype, sex, type of birth and age of dam on growth during suckling period in lambs by covariance analysis.

The data obtained from Department on Sheep of Central Animal Research İnstitute of Konya. The animal material consisted of 25 Hampshire x Merino Fı, 41 German Black Head x Merino Fı, 95 Lincoln x Merino Fı, totalling 161 lambs which were born and grown in 1991. The body weights of the Iambs were taken at birth and 30, 45, 60, 75 and 90 days.

The growth data of liveweight were studies by covariance analysis. The Least-Square analysis was also used to make comparasion. Both results from two different analysis were found similar. According to the results, type of birth was important in all periods while sex was effective only at 75 and 90 days. The genotype and age of dam were not significant for growth during the whole suckling period. Keywords :
