1. Fertility and Survival Rate

- This Study is a part of a research project concerned with the production performance of Arap, Haflinger and Arap x Haflinger Fı horses at Karacabey state farm. In this first part, fertility and survival rates were considered. In the study, fertility performance and survival rate of the horses have been considered. The analyses were carried out on data obtained in the years 1983 - 1987 from 309 Araps, 338 Haflingers and 61 Arap x Haflinger crosbreed Fı mares for fertility traits and in the years 1987 - 1988 from 111 Araps, 75 Haflingers and 31 Arap x Haflinger Fı foals for survival rate. On the base of mares at mating, pregnancy and parturition rates were 81.9 % and 90 % for Araps, 74.9 % and 67.8 % for Haflingers and 74.2 % and 74.2 % for Arap x Haflingers respectively Survival rates of filies to 3, 6 and 24 months of age were 95.6 %, 92.8 % and 91.0 % for Araps, 97.3 %, 95.9 % and 95.9 % for Haflingers and 100.0 %, 94.4 % and 94.4 % for Arap x Haflingers.
